Thinking of selling your home? It is important to know that first impressions are everything! Check out my list for a few quick things you should consider before putting your home on the market.
Upgrade Your Applicances
Everyone knows that the kitchen is the heart of the home and a place where people tend to spend a lot of time. Nothing can turn off a potential buyer more than dated or mismatched applicances as you are putting the burden on the buyer to upgrade them. By upgrading your applicances you are providing a potenital buyer with a new start if/when they buy your home.
Remodel The Bathroom
The last thing people want is a dingy bathroom. When people purchase a home, they want to feel at ease knowing their bathroom is relatively new. Bathroom renovations will recoup between 87% to 94% of their value so any money that you spend will almost always be recouped. With that being said, you don't need to go crazy with the renovation and can most likely get away with simple upgrades to the fixtures, paint, and bathtub (if applicable).
Remodel The Attic Or Basement
Adding more square footage can easily turn into a nightmare with unexpected costs or delays. Rather than build on, consider renovating an exisiting space. By converting an attic or basement into an additional bedroom or workspace can easily improve the value of your home. Keep in mind that the more versatile the room, the more appealing it is to potential buyers.
Increase Your Curb Appeal
The first impression is crtical to ensuring a potential buyer has a positive first impression. An easy way to do this is through updating your front door to be more inviting, pruning the shurbs to allow for more natural light inside, or upgrading your windows to be energy efficient.
